Finally got our DNA results back and it’s amazing how closely my results match the tree I’ve already created. I was a little surprised to see 10% Norway but I have since found a branch with more than a dozen direct ancestors on my paternal grandfather’s side who can be traced to Sweden’s Bohuslän province. Bohuslän belonged to Norway until 1658 when it was ceded to Sweden during the Second Northern War. My 9th great-grandparents lived in this formerly Norwegian territory in a small fishing village located less than fifty miles away from the current border between Sweden and Norway. According to records, at least five subsequent generations lived in nearby fishing villages on the Bohuslän islands of Orust and Tjörn during the 17th and 18th centuries.
